DPS Story/Interview

After her mother perished in an unfortunate plane accident when she was 10. Dana and her father were devastated but even more driven to pursue Dana’s artistic career to make her late mother proud.  Dana was born with the ability to sing and entertain she was born to be a star but the shocking news of her mother’s sudden death left her confused and questionable of her future career. Little did she know that with her mothers blessing, her father’s belief and her talent she would end up being one of R&B’s rising young stars.
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Dana is an only child who quickly found her love for the arts. She attended The Detroit School for arts and achieved a 4.0 Grade average. Education was also important to her as her grandparents wanted her to have a plan B if A didn’t work out. Dana refused to have a Plan B because she truly believed her innovative skills could become something iconic.

The songstress began taking singing lessons, in hopes of excelling in her craft .Feeling confident, she auditioned for multiple newly established record labels such as LaFace records but they all deemed her too young being that she was only 13. This didn’t destroy the young starlet, with support from her friends, family and especially her father and mother.  The now 15 year old Dana stepped up her game and started recording records in her basement with the help from upcoming producers such as Nelly Kelly. After creating a range of demos. The 15 year old surprisingly chose one in particular feeling her mother also felt it was the deal breaker. After sending the demo out to every record label she could come across. Within a week she heard from Black ground records. The also newly established record label was impressed by her street but sweet voice and how she achieved it being that she was only a teenager. Her influences were the legendary Janet Jackson , Aaliyah and TLC . Dana quickly signed a contract with the label and her bright future was promised . We caught up with Dana and she exclusively told BackTo90' magazine that she describes her style of music as street but sweet , music that is universal and music that her fans won't get bored of listening to. BackTo90' was also curious to know who Dana would love doing a tour/concert with. The trendsetter expressed that touring with legendary Janet Jackson would be a dream even though she would freak out most of the time. We also wondered if the young sensation had any embarrassing moments on stage to share with us and she shyly told us that she slipped whilst performing a dance move and heard a couple of fans laughing it was super awkward and embarrassing. However she quickly forgot about it once she saw the amazing banners her loyal fans created.Furthermore,  Dana also revealed that Music is her passion and she plans on making music for a lifetime because anything else would bore her.

BackTo90': How would you describe your style of music?
Dana: Street but sweet. I love making music that is universal and music that my fans won't get bored of listening to.

BackTo90': Do you plan on making music for as long as you can?
Dana: Forever , Anything else would seem boring to me.

BackTo90': If you had to listen to one artist for the rest of your life, who would it be?
Dana: I have a few actually  hmm , It would be between Aaliyah and Sade but then again I love Michael Jackson too.

BackTo90': What is your favourite thing to see in the audience while you are on stage?
Dana: The amazing banners my fans make . They're so creative . I LOVE IT !

BackTo90': Have you had any embarrassing moments on stage?
Dana : Yes , it was super awkward, I basically slipped while performing a dance move , I heard a couple fans laughing it was really embarrassing but I styled it out.

BackTo90': Who would you want to do a tour/concert with?
Dana: Doing a tour with Janet Jackson would be a dream , I would probably freak out most of the time though.

BackTo90': What is the craziest thing a fan has ever done?
Dana: A fan insisted that I should give him a piece of my hair as a souvenir weird I know , I just gave him a hug instead.

BackTo90': Who is your rival in the music industry?
Dana: Myself , I focus on how I can improve and become even better at what I do .

BackTo90': Do you prefer performing on stage or being in the studio ?
Dana: Both really , On stage I get to see and perform for my all supportive fans , and the studio allows my creative side to run wild.

BackTo90':Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?
Dana: I see Myself as one of the worlds best entertainers with a growing fan base and a successful career.
